The desperate mob bosses turn to The Joker, a sadistic psychopath with green hair, completely yellow teeth, and a custom purple suit. The Joker kills a judge, the Police Commissioner, and tries to kill the Mayor and Harvey. The acts of The Joker produces anarchy and chaos in the people of Gotham, forcing Batman to come to terms to which may seem to be his greatest test to fight injustice and come closer to the fine line between hero and vigilante

I have watched The Dark Knight seven times and read the screenplay once. Seven times i've learned something different, noticed a new small detail. Heath Ledger's Joker is just like Nolan describes him: a mad dog, unchained by the society. But don't think Ledger is the only one who gives us a spectacular performance, Aaron Eckhart (Harvey Dent) Gary Oldman (James Gordon) and Michael Caine (Alferd) are FANSTASTIC. The movie isn't only perfectly written, directed and with strong performances, Hans Zimmer composed a MAGNIFIC soundtrack which completes the show. All in all, The Dark Knight is EASILY the best super-hero movie ever made and IN MY OPINION it's the best movie of this century, it can make everyone think about society and what's right and what's wrong once the movie unfortunately comes to an end.

The fact that this film would knock a work of art like the Shawshank Redemption of the top position on this site just proves that 90% of the words population are idiots.
The Dark Knight is a decent action film better than most of the drivel Hollywood spews out, but by no means is it as brilliant as the hype would suggest. The acting is mediocre in parts, the story is weak and fragmented and the action while quite gripping has been done many times before.
Time will show this for certain as the hype subsides the movies rating will drop, It will never be the true classic that deserves the top spot that it currently holds. The dark knight rises. The last Batman Movie was good but it was hard to break with the previous versions. When I arrived at the premier I had no expectations. The other "block busters" this year have been awesome but this one tops them all. Action from start to finish and when you thought it was over and you had been in the theater for about the average time you are thrown a twist and the ride kicks into fifth gear! Great movie, great casting, great acting. br> Christian Bale and Heath Ledger represent true acting in this film. The visuals are stunning, the plot: complex but not overdone. Being an avid Batman fan, I couldn't wait to see this installment. It not only met my expectations, it blew them out of the water.
Batman "The Dark Knight" is simply the best movie of 2008.
